MCKENNY, Va. (AP) - A tractor-trailer driver has been charged with reckless driving after a chain-reaction crash involving a firetruck and a sheriff’s car.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1NmPbn6) reports Lonnie Mixter’s tractor-trailer slammed into a firetruck early Sunday morning. The crash subsequently caused the firetruck to strike a Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s office vehicle.

Police say Mixter did not slow down as he approached the scene where the right lane was blocked.

Sgt. Stephan M. Vick of the Virginia State Police says the truck eventually took out 204 feet of guardrail before overturning.

Mixter, a deputy and a firefighter were taken to a hospital. Mixter’s injuries were considered serious. The injuries of the deputy and firefighter were not considered life-threatening, the newspaper reports
