HURON, S.D. (AP) - A renowned animal handling researcher, livestock facility designer and author will speak at next month’s South Dakota Farmers Union State Convention.

Temple Grandin will give the keynote speech Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Crossroads Convention Center in Huron. Anyone is invited to attend at no charge.

Farmers Union Executive Director Karla Hofhenke says the response to Grandin’s visit to the state in 2014 was so amazing that the organization wanted to bring her back.

Grandin is known for developing humane livestock handling systems that are used worldwide. She’s also a professor at Colorado State University.

The two-day state convention will mark the South Dakota Farmers Union’s centennial celebration.
