BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - The girlfriend of a Connecticut man charged with killing his parents has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.

Jennifer Valiante remains held on $2 million bond after Tuesday’s court appearance.

Her boyfriend, Kyle Navin, made a brief appearance but did not enter a plea. His lawyer asked for a continuance.

Navin is charged with shooting his parents, Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin, of Easton. They were reported missing in August and their bodies were found last month.

Prosecutors say Navin killed his parents because they were planning to cut him out of their will.

Investigators say Navin and Valiante exchanged text messages before his parents vanished.

Valiante’s lawyer says the texts were taken out of context and his client played no role in the killings.
