MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A January sentencing hearing has been scheduled for a 22-year-old Mason City man convicted of robbery.
Valentine Flores pleaded guilty to felony theft on Monday after prosecutors lowered the charge and dismissed another. Police say robbed 20-year-old William Whipple of $700 on Aug. 23 in Mason City. Whipple died three days after the robbery. State officials say the death was accidental and was a result of mixing drugs.
Flores’ sentencing is set for Jan. 4.
