SPARTA, Wis. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a Warrens man in the death of his 3-month-old son.
According to the complaint, 26-year-old Troy Tralmer told investigators he dropped his son Chad on Nov. 5 while performing the Heimlich maneuver after the infant choked on milk. He says he tried CPR when his son stopped breathing and called 911.
The La Crosse Tribune (https://bit.ly/1R5D25y) reports the infant did not regain consciousness and died at a hospital two days later.
Tralmer denied shaking his son while home alone with the infant. An autopsy found the child suffered seven broken ribs, a fractured skull and bleeding in his brain.
Tralmer is charged in Monroe County with first-degree reckless homicide and physical abuse of a child causing great bodily harm. His next court date is in February.
