TOWN OF HAYWARD, Wis. (AP) - Authorities in northwestern Wisconsin say a suspect has turned himself in to the sheriff’s office in connection with a fatal shooting.

The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office was called about a gunshot victim in the Township of Hayward late Wednesday morning. Deputies and Lac Courte Oreilles tribal police responded. They found a man dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

A few minutes later, a man turned himself in at the sheriff’s office. He is in custody.



The names of the victim and the suspect were not immediately released. The shooting remains under investigation.
