SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The superintendent in charge of schools on the California side of south Lake Tahoe has received a $125,000 buyout package for resigning after being arrested twice on investigation of drunken driving.
The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1Lzo155 ) that former El Dorado County Superintendent Jeremy Meyers received a lump sum payment equal to his salary through June and a lump sum of his medical, dental and life insurance benefits in exchange for stepping down Nov. 14.
Meyers was arrested Nov. 5 after he crashed his truck into a utility box. California Highway Patrol says he had a blood alcohol level of 0.19 percent. He was previously convicted of driving under the influence on June 9.
