MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont National Guard is issuing a reminder in response to hunters wandering onto its property: Keep out.

Guard spokesman Maj. Christopher Gookin says hunters coming onto the Guard’s posted property have been a recurring problem, especially at its Camp Johnson facility in Colchester.

Hunters also are barred and can be cited for trespassing at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Underhill and Bolton and at the Westminster Training Facility in Westminster.

Gooking says live fire and maneuver training are scheduled in these areas all year long. He adds that hunting and fishing on the Guard properties put the lives and safety of hunters, anglers and soldiers at risk.
