PRAGUE (AP) - Frantisek Janda, the president of the European Fencing Confederation, died Tuesday. He was 48.
The Czech Olympic Committee and the country’s fencing federation announced the death.
Janda died of a heart attack on his way to a World Cup event in Japan, where he was appointed an observer by the International Fencing Federation, the European confederation said in a statement.
Janda took over as the confederation’s president in 2009 and was re-elected in 2013.
