TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Pima County authorities say a 14-year-old girl who was riding on the outside of a moving vehicle was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries when she fell or jumped off and hit her head on the road.
The Sheriff’s Department said the incident happened in the Tucson area Tuesday evening and that the girl was standing on the back bumper and holding onto the luggage rack when her hat blew off her head. She then was injured when she either jumped off or fell off the van.
The Sheriff’s Department said the van’s 16-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of endangerment and released in the custody of his parents.
No identities were released.
