DETROIT (AP) - A 26-year-old suburban Detroit man has been charged in the slaying of a woman contacted through a website listing personal ads.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says Jerome Moore of Oak Park was arraigned Thursday in Detroit on a charge of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Moore made contact Aug. 15 with 23-year-old Cynthia Worthy on Backpage.com. The social media site carries personal ads that include people looking for sex.
Worthy’s body was found two days later in a Detroit alley. She had been stabbed.
Moore is jailed without bond and faces an Oct. 22 probable cause hearing. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Oct. 29.
Court records showed no attorney listed for Moore.
