TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A woman has testified that a Tulsa County sheriff’s deputy asked her to touch him inappropriately and that she cooperated because she was afraid of being arrested.
The woman testified Wednesday in the trial of 27-year-old Gerald Nuckolls, the Tulsa World (https://bit.ly/1VUJQaA ) reported. He’s charged with two counts each of sexual battery and indecent exposure, and he resigned from the sheriff’s office shortly after his arrest last September.
The woman said she feared arrest for having an open vodka bottle in her car in March 2014.
“It’s a man in uniform. You know what I mean?” the woman said. “You’re supposed to do what they say.”
Another woman testified Wednesday that Nuckolls touched her breast and exposed himself while he said he was searching her home for drugs in September 2014. She said no drugs were found, and that she went to her friend’s house and was encouraged to report what happened.
That woman has also sued Nuckolls and Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz, seeking more than $10,000. Defense attorney Terry Funk asked her whether she set up Nuckolls to get money.
“That was the farthest thing from my mind,” the woman testified. She said she initially didn’t consider reporting what happened because she thought no one would believe it.
Funk said Nuckolls would testify in his defense. He has denied the allegations.
