BURNVSVILLE, Minn. (AP) - A popular Minnesota ski area that was a training ground for Lindsey Vonn, Kristina Koznick and other Olympians has been sold to new owners with big expansion plans.
Buck Hill founder Nancy Stone and her family say they’ve sold the Burnsville ski area to a group of investors that include longtime manager Don McClure. Terms weren’t disclosed.
The new owners say they plan to turn it into a year-round wold-class sports training facility and entertainment destination.
Generations of Twin Cities residents have learned to ski at Buck Hill since it opened in 1954. It now attracts about 170,000 visitors each winter. It has 16 runs and nine lifts, and a vertical drop of just over 300 feet.
