SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) - South Windsor school officials say they’re investigating an incident in which some soccer fans sang a song interpreted as a taunt targeting Jewish players and spectators.

WVIT-TV aired a video (https://bit.ly/1LRmDS4 ) showing a group of spectators singing the Dreidel Song at a game Wednesday in West Hartford. The children’s song, celebrating a spinning top, is typically sung at Hanukkah.

Schools Superintendent Kate Carter wrote in an email to the community Friday that high school administrators investigated and met with students involved. She says school officials take the situation seriously and are being assisted by the Anti-Defamation League.

The Hartford Courant reports that South Windsor Mayor M. Saud Anwar said Friday he has spoken with Carter and was assured the students involved will be identified and punished.
