ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Multiple crashes are causing some major traffic tie-ups along eastbound I-4 in Volusia County, one of central Florida’s busiest highways.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say a motorcyclist first crashed Saturday morning. As traffic backed up, a three-vehicle crash occurred with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other minor crashes also happened within a roughly five mile radius along eastbound I-4.
Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said several other vehicles became disabled from overheating or running out of gas.
There were also numerous reports of reckless motorcycles riders, as well as vehicles and motorcycles driving onto the shoulder and cutting through the median during the traffic backups.
Motorcyclists from all over the country are in Daytona Beach for the annual Biketoberfest.
