WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Authorities in West Haven temporarily closed off a street after someone reported a round of “military ordnance” outside a home there.

The Hartford Courant reports (https://cour.at/1Pyr6Zp ) the street was closed Friday night while the New Haven Bomb Squad and the West Haven police and fire departments responded.

They discovered it was a training round and inert.

Police say a neighbor reported the object after seeing it next to a vacant home around 8 p.m. The street was closed down for a little over an hour before police announced it was “never capable of being detonated.”
