WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) - A chamber of commerce that covers an area that straddles the Rhode Island-Connecticut border has a new name it says reflects its commitment to the community.

The Westerly Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1QIf3XY ) officials announced Saturday that the Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck Area Chamber of Commerce is now known as the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce. The announcement was made as guests celebrated the chamber’s 90th anniversary.

Angela Thoman, the president of the chamber’s board of directors, says the new name more accurately reflects the geography of the membership and its two-state regional business advocacy efforts.

The name change and a new logo are a result of planning and discussion that culminated during the annual board of directors’ retreat in February.
