GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - An agreement between the Gillette and Campbell County officials to build a new visitors’ center has hit a snag.

The Gillette News Record (https://bit.ly/1NvUhKj ) reports the sides agreed to collect a 10 percent administration fee to build the center.

But the sticking point is the removal of a clause that says the project will be built within the city and serviced by city utilities.

City officials insist the center be within city limits, because that’s where the majority of tourist money is generated.

County commissioners and visitor bureau officials say they want the center where it will best serve the community.

The existing Gillette Convention and Visitors Bureau is in a trailer in a truck stop parking lot.

Bureau executive director Mary Silvernell says the location gives visitors the wrong image.
