MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A former Medford car lot has been reimagined as a courtyard for food carts.
The Mail Tribune reports (https://is.gd/Jb40Lu ) that the lot in downtown Medford has hosted up to seven food trucks since the beginning of October. The lot will hold an official grand opening Nov. 2.
Lot owner Benny Shapiro, who also owns a food truck, says he rents space in the lot to vendors. The trucks agree to operate from at least 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
He has named the lot the Chop Shop.
Shapiro says he plans to test bringing trucks in on Friday and Saturday nights to attract the bar crowd. He is also planning to expand the area to include free Wi-Fi and indoor, heated seating.
