ROGERS CITY, Mich. (AP) - A man found guilty but mentally ill in the fatal shootings of two brothers has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in northern Michigan.
Eugene and Henry Hincka were killed in January at their home in Presque Isle County, north of Alpena. Richard Strzelecki was accused of killing the brothers because their business was failing. They were all partners in farming.
Strzelecki appeared in court Monday, nearly a month after his conviction. His no-parole sentence was mandatory.
Defense attorney Dan Harris had argued that the 64-year-old was insane.
Experts offered different opinions. A psychiatrist, Dr. Norman Miller, told jurors that Strzelecki was delusional and under the influence of a newly prescribed antidepressant.
