WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say an ammonia leak at a northern West Virginia factory that makes frozen treats prompted five workers to be treated for exposure.

The leak was reported at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ziegenfelder plant in Wheeling, prompting the factory to be evacuated. The plant uses ammonia for its refrigeration system.

Wheeling Fire Chief Larry Helms says no one was seriously injured. Media outlets report four workers who had breathing complications were taken to a hospital. Another worker was treated at the scene.

Ziegenfelder President and CEO Lisa Allen says the ammonia leak has been contained and the factory remains closed.

The factory makes BudgetSaver twin pops and other frozen treats sold in grocery stores nationwide.
