PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections says one of its youth corrections officers has been arrested for alleged sexual misconduct and fired.

Department officials announced Wednesday that they’re still investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and details aren’t being immediately released.

Officials say the agency became aware of sexual misconduct allegations involving Youth Corrections Officer Patrice Dawson on Oct. 16.

They say Dawson reportedly confessed and she was fired.

Authorities say Dawson was subsequently arrested and charged with a Class 3 felony.

It was unclear Wednesday if Dawson has a lawyer yet for her case.
