CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A 17-year-old high school student in Charlotte has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving after a wreck that killed a teen passenger.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told local media outlets that a student at Myers Park High School has been arrested and charged after the speeding SUV she was driving hit a tree early Monday.

Sixteen-year-old Alexander Mundt died shortly after the wreck. Police said Mundt was in the backseat.



Both the driver and another 17-year-old female in the SUV were taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver is to appear in court Nov. 16.
