WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - An attorney entered a not guilty plea for a Vermont man accused of driving a bus to a school while under the influence of alcohol.

The Valley News reports (https://bit.ly/1jQvHu4 ) Brett Jenkinson, of Northfield, appeared in court Tuesday.

Police say Jenkinson was scheduled to drive a bus of Whitcomb Junior-Senior High School students to Boston for a field trip on Oct. 8. The principal called state police after a paraprofessional reported smelling alcohol on his breath.



Court documents show he had a blood alcohol content between .09 and .10. The legal limit for a school bus driver is .02.

The newspaper’s attempts to reach him on Tuesday were unsuccessful.

Jenkinson is due back in White River Junction courthouse on Jan. 6.
