TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says a University of Arizona administrator has been charged with sexual assault, sexual abuse and aggravated assault.
Jessie Lyle Bootman is the dean of the College of Pharmacy. He was indicted and arraigned on Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office says Bootman is suspected of sexually assaulting a woman at his home on Oct. 2. They say detectives found incriminating evidence while executing a search warrant at Bootman’s house.
Brad Roach, Bootman’s attorney, issued a statement saying the dean was “shocked and saddened” by the allegations. He said Bootman denies any wrongdoing and is confident he will be exonerated.
Bootman has been the dean of the pharmacy college since 1987. The university says he’s been placed on leave and that the allegations aren’t tied to the school.
