MIRAMAR, Fla. (AP) - Police say a man returning home from work at a Miami barbeque restaurant his family owns has died after being shot outside his home.

The shooting happened early Thursday in Miramar, a Fort Lauderdale suburb.

Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues says 28-year-old Darcy Jenkins Jr. died in his driveway.

His wife Nikeya Jenkins told reporters “they just gunned him down like a dog.” She is a corporal with the nearby Opa-locka Police Department.

Police were looking for any surveillance cameras that may have captured the shooting.

Rues says officers were responding to a call regarding shots fired when relatives found Jenkins’ body in the driveway.

No further details were immediately available.
