ATLANTA (AP) - The Department of Defense has identified six U.S. service members killed in the crash of a military transport plane in Afghanistan, including a native from Georgia.
The Pentagon announced Saturday that 21-year-old 1st Class Kcey E. Ruiz of McDonough was among the victims. Ruiz was one of the six crew members of the Air Force C-130J plane that went down Friday at Jalalabad air field, about 80 miles from the capital of Kabul.
Ruiz was assigned to the 66th Security Forces Squadron at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. Four other service members were assigned to Dyess Air Force Base in Texas.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
