POLSON, Mont. (AP) - A Canadian man has pleaded guilty to charges that he had 97 pounds of cocaine in a hidden compartment in his pickup truck while traveling through northwestern Montana.
KERR-AM reports 23-year-old Miguel Douglas Miranda of Calgary, Alberta, made a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to criminal possession with intent to distribute.
He appeared in court Thursday in Polson.
The plea deal includes a joint recommendation of a three-year prison sentence.
Court records say a Montana Highway Patrol trooper who stopped Miranda on U.S. Highway 93 near St. Ignatius on June 4 found the cocaine. Prosecutors estimate its value at $1.4 million.
District Judge Kim Christopher set a sentencing hearing for Dec. 17.
