DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (AP) - A convicted felon accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend to death at her home has been indicted by a Piscataquis County grand jury.

Robert Burton, of Abbott, led police on a manhunt for two months over the summer. Authorities say he was indicted Thursday on charges of murder and illegally possessing a firearm.

Authorities say 37-year-old Stephanie Gebo was gunned down on June 5 at her Parkman home. Gebo, who broke up with Burton a week before the shooting, changed the locks on her home and slept with a handgun under her pillow fearing Burton.

Burton’s attorney says an arraignment is expected in November. Burton is expected to plead not guilty.

Burton faces up to life in prison if convicted of murder. He is being held without bail.
