BERRYVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A 16-year-old student has been arrested after police say he brought an unloaded gun to school in Berryville.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1NEpE5E ) reports the student at Berryville High School was arrested Wednesday after a faculty member was tipped off that the student had the weapon in his backpack. He faces a charge of possession of a stolen firearm.
Berryville police say the student brought the handgun to school to return it to another student after he traded a cellphone for it. According to authorities, a 17-year-old student charged in the Sunday burglary of a pawn shop is linked to the handgun, as well as five other handguns that were stolen and have not been recovered.
