PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Two people were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Paterson, the city’s fourth shooting in less than a week.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the latest shooting, which happened around 10:40 p.m. Friday.

They say the two victims - a 31-year-old man and 30-year-old woman - were among several people gathered in the area of North 6th and Clinton streets when someone in a passing vehicle fired into the crowd.

Both victims were shot in the leg and remained hospitalized Saturday in stable condition. Authorities say it’s not clear if the victims were targeted by the shooter or shot at random.

Friday night’s incident was the city’s ninth shooting in October. Paterson has had 60 shootings this year, leaving 10 people dead and 63 wounded.
