ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A soup kitchen that’s served Erie since 1974 is resuming operations 10 days after its building was badly damaged by an intentionally set fire.

Sister Mary Miller, director of the Emmaus Soup Kitchen, tells the Erie Times-News (https://bit.ly/1LdwxLz ) she hopes Monday’s reopening brings guests a sense of normalcy after the recent disruption.

Soup kitchen patron Thomas Wilson Munch is charged with arson and other offenses in the Sept. 25 blaze. Police say the 52-year-old was seen on video when the fire started in a trash can.

Munch remains jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail pending an Oct. 30 preliminary hearing. A public defender listed in online court records didn’t immediately return a telephone message.
