AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - The workers union at the Pantex nuclear weapons plant near Amarillo has voted to ratify their contact, ending a strike that has lasted more than a month.
The Amarillo Globe-News reports (https://bit.ly/1VBxGOv ) that the workers union, represented by the Metal Trades Council, voted Sunday to ratify the contract negotiated between the union and Consolidated Nuclear Security, the company that operates the plant. It was the longest labor-related work stoppage in the plant’s history
The new four-year labor agreement was negotiated with help from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services.
The strike began Aug. 28. On Sept. 22, federal negotiators arrived at the plant to help resolve the labor dispute.
