PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (AP) - Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies say a 21-year-old Prairieville man died after argument with his girlfriend turn violent.

Lt. Col. Bobby Webre tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1QU5ogG) Jonqualya Benton is accused of stabbing her boyfriend, Deshad Perry, in the chest just before midnight Friday. He later died at a hospital in Baton Rouge.

Webre says deputies responded to reports of screaming coming from a home in Prairieville and found the door open when they arrived and a large amount of blood throughout the home.

Webre says a Baton Rouge hospital contacted the sheriff’s office to tell deputies it was treating a stab victim who had just arrived in critical condition.

Benton was booked with manslaughter. No bond has been set.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Benton.
