PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Police say a Maine man pretended to be an officer and demanded sex from a woman.

Portland police say they arrested the 57-year-old Lyman man Thursday and charged him with gross sexual assault and impersonating a public servant.

The 24-year-old woman says she is a prostitute and that the man picked her up Thursday. She says he claimed to be police officer, even showing her a badge and a gun, and that he would arrest her unless she performed a sex act. The woman says she was released unhurt after she performed the sex act.

Police say records show he is not a police officer in Maine.

He is being held in the Cumberland County Jail in Portland with bail set at $100,000
