SEATTLE (AP) - The Colorado Rockies have placed catcher Nick Hundley on the 60-day disabled list with a cervical strain and called up catcher Tom Murphy from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hundley was batting .301 with a career-high 21 doubles, 10 home runs and 43 RBIs. He left Sunday’s game against the San Francisco Giants with a stiff neck.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said Hundley was “still sore a few days later,” which raised concerns. Weiss hopes to “get him into the offseason healthy and have a normal offseason,” and didn’t want to risk Hundley’s readiness for 2016 by pushing him this month.

Murphy was a third-round pick in the 2012 draft and began the season at Double-A New Britain. He then hit .271 with seven home runs and 19 RBIs in 33 games with Albuquerque.

This is Murphy’s first appearance on a Major League roster.
