LANDOVER | Wide receiver DeSean Jackson strained his left hamstring with 5:49 remaining in the first quarter and did not return. Coach Jay Gruden said Jackson will undergo an MRI examination to determine the extent of the injury.
Jackson, who missed the entire preseason with a sprained right shoulder, led the Redskins with 1,169 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions last year, his first with the team. He was running a go route on Sunday and couldn’t snag an overthrown pass from Cousins, then immediately grabbed at the back of his left leg and walked off the field.
“Any time you lose a guy that runs a 4.25[-second] 40[-yard dash], it’s going to damage some of your action-shot games,” Gruden said. “We had about seven or eight more built in for him, designed for him, to at least clear out and get DeSean across the field or what have you, so it was a big loss for us.”
Strong safety Duke Ihenacho broke his left wrist in the first half and will also undergo further examination, Gruden said. Cornerback DeAngelo Hall missed the last eight plays of the first half after bruising his ribs. Moses was poked in the eye by his ear pad when his helmet was twisted and missed one play. Cornerback Justin Rogers left the game in the second half after experiencing pain from plantar fasciitis.
