ST. LOUIS (AP) - A suspect is in custody after a two-state chase ended with his capture on a St. Louis bridge.

The chase began about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 270 in north St. Louis County when an officer tried to stop a car matching the description of a car used in two drive-by shootings. Police say the driver fled into Illinois.

The suspect eventually tried to drive back into St. Louis on the McKinley Bridge, where a Venice, Illinois, officer was able to cut him off and force him to stop. Police believe the suspect tossed a gun out the window, and officers were searching for it.

No one was injured in either drive-by shooting, and no one was hurt during the chase. The suspect’s name has not been released.
