AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A former police officer at Vermont’s White River Junction Veterans Affairs Medical Center has pleaded guilty to pulling a loaded gun during a road rage incident on a Maine highway.

The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1OfOSK6 ) that Demitria Buhalis pleaded guilty Tuesday to criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. Police say she pulled the gun on two men in April after a series of incidents on I-95 that included passing and tailgating.

The 42-year-old Buhalis, of Brownsville, Vermont, entered a plea that could mean a lighter sentence. If she meets the terms of the deal, including staying away from the two men, the felony charge will be withdrawn and she can plead guilty instead to a misdemeanor reckless conduct charge.

If she fails to abide by the deal, she faces up to five years in jail.
