GERING, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a vehicle pursuit that began in Wyoming ended in western Nebraska with a fugitive’s apprehension.
The Nebraska State Patrol says 40-year-old Joseph Mladenik, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was being held in the Scotts Bluff County Jail Thursday. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney. Nebraska online court records don’t yet list the case.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol alerted Nebraska authorities around 3 p.m. Wednesday that Wyoming officers had stopped their Interstate 80 pursuit of a man in a sport utility vehicle who was wanted on a warrant for stalking. Kimball city and county officers soon picked up the chase. They were supplanted a few minutes later by state troopers who deployed stop sticks to flatten the SUV’s tires, forcing its halt.
Mladenik gave up 45 minutes later without incident.
