DETROIT (AP) - Detroit’s Eastern Market is kicking off the inaugural Murals In the Market festival.
The more than weeklong event will feature the work of dozens of local and international artists who will paint large scale murals throughout the wholesale food and retailing area.
Some artists with obligations later in the month got a head start last weekend. Eastern Market also plans to host discussion panels, a cultural tour and other activities.
Events are scheduled this week and next week. Sponsors include Eastern Market-based fine art publisher 1xRUN, Detroit’s Inner State Gallery and the Eastern Market Corp.
