POMEROY, Ohio (AP) - A man charged with killing a 16-year-old West Virginia girl has pleaded guilty to murder and other counts in southern Ohio and been sentenced to 19 years to life in prison.

Meigs County Prosecutor Colleen Williams says 37-year-old Ernest Roach pleaded guilty Thursday in Pomeroy to charges including gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Roach’s attorney didn’t immediately return calls seeking comment.

Authorities say the Racine, Ohio, man met teenager Ericka Brown on the Internet. The teen from Cross Lanes, West Virginia, was found along the banks of the Ohio River in Meigs County on Aug. 30, 2014, about three weeks after she was reported missing.

Williams says the autopsy showed Brown died of strangulation.
