BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) - A Sound Transit 550 bus jumped a curb and crashed in downtown Bellevue when a transit driver what officials say was a medical issue.

King County Metro Transit spokesman Jeff Switzer tells the Seattle Times (https://bit.ly/1FOVPKe ) that no passengers or bystanders were injured in the Wednesday incident. The driver was taken to a hospital to be checked for pain.

Officials say the bus hopped a curb and struck a tree and a building. Other buses were detoured around the area.

Switzer says Metro periodically conducts medical screenings of bus drivers as part of their qualifications to keep a commercial driver’s license.
