ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Stockton University says it will reveal the name of the buyer of the former Showboat casino on Friday.

The university on Wednesday approved the sale of the former casino, but said it could not identify the buyer until after a “due diligence” period expired Thursday evening.

A university spokeswoman said Thursday that the buyer’s name will be made public on Friday.

Stockton bought the former casino for $18 million in December, hoping to convert it into a satellite campus.

But competing legal restrictions on how the property can be used scuttled that deal.
