PITTSBURGH (AP) - U.S. Steel is eliminating jobs at its downtown Pittsburgh headquarters.

The company Thursday didn’t specify the number of cuts. It says they won’t affect unionized workers.

Cassella says U.S. Steel is continuing to adjust its work force to operational and business needs.

The company issued layoff warnings to production workers earlier this year and has idled steel-making operations in Texas, Illinois and Ohio.

The Pittsburgh layoffs come as the company plans to move its headquarters in 2017 to a new building on the former Civic Arena site.
