OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - Republican nominee for governor Matt Bevin kicked off his fall ad campaign with a 30-second spot designed to cater to football fans.

The ad mimics a football highlight show and portrays Democrat Jack Conway leading Team Obama while Bevin leads Team Kentucky. An announcer criticizes Conway for supporting the federal Affordable Care Act and a failed federal proposal that would have capped emissions and allowed companies to trade credits to meet the new limit. The ad says that bill would have killed jobs.

Conway said he has never supported the so-called “cap and trade” bill that was a major issue when he ran for Senate in 2010. Conway said at the time he would only support the bill if it protected Kentucky’s coal industry and electricity rates.
