NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a youth baseball coach has been arrested for allegedly sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old through social media.

Local news media report that 26-year-old Jonathan Hayes Sholar has been charged with child molestation and sexual exploitation. He was arrested Wednesday evening while coaching a baseball game.

Coweta County sheriff’s Col. Jimmy Yarbrough says Hayes used apps such as Instagram and Snapchat to send messages to the girl. The girl’s brother was a student at the Centerfield Baseball Academy, which is co-owned by Sholar.

Sgt. Jason Fetner says the girl told her brother about the messages in June and he informed their parents. The parents then contacted authorities.

Sholar is being held on a $20,000 bond. It’s not clear if Sholar has an attorney.
