PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - Pascagoula police say a man suspected of killing his estranged wife at a federal food bank has died after being taken off life support.
The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1Usma7B ) 51-year-old Chester Jerome Raine of Escatawpa died Wednesday at Singing River Hospital.
Investigators say Raine went to the federal food center before it opened Monday and shot 47-year-old Sonja Wells-Raine, the manager there. Police say he then turned the .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol on himself.
She died at the scene, and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Wells-Raine lived in Moss Point at the time of the killing. She had worked at the federally funded WIC distribution center for poor women, infants and children since 2006. In 2009, she was promoted to manager.
