HUDSON, N.H. (AP) - Police say a school bus struck a tree and a military cannon in Hudson after the driver says the brakes apparently failed.
No children or other passengers were on the bus when it crashed around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say the driver, 69-year-old Barbara Sowerbutts of Hudson, tried to slow the bus as it approached an intersection but had to take evasive action when it wouldn’t stop. The bus hit a trash can and a utility pole wire before striking the tree and cannon.
Sowerbutts was not injured.
