Republican presidential candidate and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday that GOP leaders on Capitol Hill must force President Obama’s hand on Planned Parenthood funding and, in the process, show the American people “who the obstructionist is.”

“At least the American people will know who the obstructionist is,” Mr. Christie said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” adding that Republicans should send the White House a budget bill that blocks all taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood.

“If he’s going to veto it, let the American people see that he stands with the folks who believe the systematic murder of children in the womb in a way that preserves the body parts to be sold on the open market for profit is something that he stands for,” Mr. Christie said. “That’s an important differentiation between our party and the president’s party.”

Lawmakers have until Sept. 30 to reach a budget agreement or the federal government will shut down for the second time in two years.
